Having raised a record £89,196 for our charity partners in 2024, the Henry Cecil Open Weekend will once again support the Newmarket Housing Trust and Racing Welfare in 2025.
Newmarket Housing Trust
This new project, run by the Newmarket Trainers Group, will create a portfolio of accommodation for racing staff. Initially it will see the creation of a Halls of Residence consisting of 20-25 bed spaces for racing staff aged 16-18 years old, located at The British Racing School. Over time a collection of flats and houses will be acquired to meet the housing needs of 16–18-year-olds, 18-early 20s, couples and older people without children and families who work in the racing industry in Newmarket.
Racing Welfare
The Henry Cecil Open Weekend will also continue to raise funds for its long term beneficiary – Racing Welfare.
Through funds raised by the Open Weekend Racing Welfare completed the renovation of MacDonald Buchanan House, providing 18 units of high-quality accommodation for young racing staff in the town.
Racing Welfare has also proved invaluable to many individuals in the the industry, offering essential services and support for racing staff through the pandemic.
